Full Body Harnesses
What full body harnesses can you put a chest D-ring on?
We are happy to add a chest D-Ring to any of our harnesses for you for an additional ten dollars per harness. However, we cannot add it to harnesses with floating chest straps.
What is the service life of your full body harnesses?
The service life of our harnesses is five years from date of first use.
Is the harness removable from the vest of the Tux Harness?
No, the harness is sewn permanently inside the vest.
How do I know what size harness to order?
View the sizing chart available online. The chart is categorized by chest and waist measurements. The numbers shown in the chart are flexible by about two inches in either direction. You may also call Guardian Fall Protection with an approximate height and weight of the person wearing the harness and get a suggested size from a customer service representative.
What is the "duck" material used in some Tux harnesses?
The "duck" material is a thick material made of 100% cotton and is very similar in look and texture to Carhartt brand material.
What can be used to “mark” individual harnesses other than embroidery and/or screen printing?
No. While simple pen ink will likely not damage webbing directly, there are other factors to consider when marking webbing. Pen tips, brushes, or other writing devices may damage webbing if excess pressure is used, or may grind in dirt or corrosive substances into webbing. Ink or paint may also cover up damage to webbing, making it difficult to notice during equipment inspection. Guardian provides customizable patches on harnesses that may be written on, but no webbing should ever be altered in any way.

What is the shortest length you can make an extension lanyard?
The shortest length you can make an extension lanyard is 12 inches.
When working on a leading edge, do I have to have a shock absorber with my retractable or can I just use my heavy duty lanyard?
You should use a Heavy Duty Lanyard or Self-Retracting Lifeline when working on a leading edge.
What is the minimum weight on the Double Leg Heavy Duty Lanyard (21210)?
The minimum weight on this lanyard is 139 pounds.
Can you make “rope” lanyards?
No.
Why do I have to use a specially designed lanyard for extended free falls?
OSHA allows for users to exceed the six feet free fall level, which happens when attaching at foot level, as long as their system has the all of the following:
- There is no other practical way to tie off overhead. Leaving foot level the best option.
- Force on the body is less than 1,800 pounds.
- The user will not hit any objects below them.
Are any of your lanyards certified for free fall over 6 feet?
Yes. For workers weighing 130-310 pounds (including all equipment), the Big Boss Lanyard is certified for free fall up to 12 feet.
Are any of your lanyards certified for use by workers weighing over 310 pounds?
Yes. For workers weighing between 310-420 pounds (including all equipment), the Big Boss Lanyard is certified for free fall up to 6 feet.
What is the maximum lanyard length allowed in Climbing/Fixed Ladder applications?
The maximum total length allowed between the fall arrester (rope grab) and the full-body harness attachment point (Dorsal (back) or Chest D-ring) is 36 inches. Refer to ANSI Z359.1-2007, 3.3.6.

The brake rate on any Guardian Self-Retracting Lifeline is 4.5 feet per second.

Yes, you will have to use a galvanized spray so it will prevent corrosion.

Yes, the Temper Anchor has been tested and approved for flat application.
What is the screw size needed for the CB-12 Roof Anchor (00645)?
The screw size for the CB-12 anchor is a #14.
What pitches of roof does a Two-Way Standing Seam Roof Anchor (10600) fit?
The Standing Seam Roof Anchor fits all roof pitches.
If using a metal roof anchor that is thinner than 20-gauge, what type of anchor should be used?
CB-12 Roof Anchor (00645) can be used on 22-gauge metal roof.

If you are able to dry the area in which you plan to use the Angel Anchor then you can use it but if the surface is wet, you cannot use this anchor unfortunately.

What is the Butterfly D-Ring (02000) used for?
The Butterfly D-Ring is used for front D-ring attachment.
Is the Butterfly D-ring (02000) used for fall arrest?
Yes, but only if the free fall is less than 2 feet.
Can Tool Lanyards be used in any fall protection applications?
No. Tool Lanyards must only be used to carry tools within the stated weight capacity range.

Yes, although it is not recommended as they would require a hole drilled at the top on both ends.

The 2 x 4’s need to overlap by 12 inches in the parapet clamp guardrail system.
What direction does the Parapet Clamp Guardrail System (15170) need to face?
The 2 x 4’s of the Parapet Clamp Guardrail System should be on the inside facing the wall.
What is the tensile strength on the Replacement Warning Flag Line (15231)?
The tensile strength of the warning line is 500 lbs per OSHA regulation.
When do I need to use toeboards?
Toeboards are always required on roofs with slopes greater than 4”:12” (vertical:horizontal), and if any risk exists for materials to fall from the roof. If a guardrail system is installed on a parapet wall, it may be possible for the parapet to function as a toeboard.
Do I need to use other fall protection equipment if a guardrail system is in place?
If the installed guardrail system blocks all existing and potential fall hazards, and no other fall hazards exist within the confined work area, no other fall protection equipment is needed.
Engineered Lifeline Systems
Who can install horizontal lifeline systems?
A Qualified Person MUST be responsible for supervising the installation of all engineered lifeline systems, and for ensuring the inspection and maintenance of said systems is performed according to equipment instruction specifications.
How many workers can engineered lifeline systems support simultaneously?
It depends on the system. Most Guardian engineered lifeline systems are certified for use by up to two workers simultaneously. Some systems, depending on design, are certified for use by more workers. Contact Guardian Fall Protection prior to using the system if any doubt about system capacity exists.
Ladder Safety Products
What are the dimensions on the Safe-T Ladder Extension System (10800)?
The dimensions on the Safe-T Ladder Extension System is 3.75 feet (H) by 1.75 feet (W).
What size ladders does the Basemate Ladder Level System fit?
The Basemate Ladder Level System is compatible with most ladders with 12” – 18” rung widths.
Netting Systems
Do I have to wear fall protection equipment if Residential Safety Netting certified for fall arrest applications is installed in a compliant manner?
No, but the key is that safety netting must be installed and used according to equipment instructions and must cover all potential areas where a fall may occur.
What is the difference between Debris Netting and Residential Safety Netting?
Debris Netting must NEVER be used in horizontal applications or for purposes of fall arrest. Debris Netting must only be installed in vertical applications, and functions similar to a guardrail system in that it blocks the leading edges of fall hazards. Residential Safety Netting may be used in fall arrest applications if installed and used according to equipment instructions.

How long are the ropes in the rescue kits?
