The Guardian Fall Team Blog

In Kauai, the new Dow Agroscience building required pass-through horizontal lifelines to provide safe access to their three PV arrays, as they require regular maintenance and repair.

To meet the customer’s needs, ESG designed, procured, shipped, and supervised the installation of three XS horizontal lifeline systems. As the vertical clearance of the roof deck would vary from three feet to approximately twenty feet, the systems were designed to be used only in fall restraint. Custom lanyards were provided along with these horizontal lifelines to ensure users could not reach the terminal edge of the roof.

XS Impact anchors were fastened to the structure by means of a custom toggle connection, which included a stainless steel backer plate to distribute the applied toggle forces across the low flutes of the Epicore ER3.5A metal deck below.

The ESG management team worked with the general contractor to ensure a timely delivery of materials and additionally coordinated with other trades to complete the installation under the project’s demanding deadline.
